Whitney Janis

Freelance dancer

Whitney Janis received her early training at Ballet Academy East, The Manhattan Ballet School, and The Ailey School, where she attended the Independent Study Program. She has participated in summer intensives at Elisa Monte Dance, The Ailey School, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. She is a member of VashtiDance Theater, NYC Dance Arts, and the multi-disciplinary group Artists By Any Other Name. As a guest artist, she has appeared with Dance Visions NY and Buggé Ballet and ARIM Dance. Whitney is a Teaching Assistant at The Ailey School and is on faculty at The Dance Source in Rego Park, Queens. Whitney has an undergraduate degree in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins University and is a founding member of the Hopkins contemporary dance group Jaywalk, where she served as Secretary, dancer, and choreographer.
