Samuel Kunzman

Peridance Contemporary Dance Company

Samuel was born and raised in Tewksbury, NJ. At 17, he started his formal dance training at Ballet Forte. He later joined New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble under the direction of Nancy Turano. Samuel is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA program, in which he performed works by William Forsythe, Robyn Mineko Williams, Jessica Lang, and Nicholas Villenueve, as well as danced alongside Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in Alvin Ailey's "Memoria" and "Revelations - Cast of 50." He has also performed as a guest artist with Armitage Gone! Dance and Eryc Taylor Dance. He has spent summers at Jacob's Pillow Contemporary Program and in LAUNCH: 9 with the Northwest Dance Project. Samuel is also an assistant to Milton Myers.

As a choreographer, Samuel has created for NJDTE, the Peridance Youth Ensemble, and the Ailey/Fordham Senior Repertory Group (AFSD), as well as presented work at the 2014 Young Choreographer's Festival, the 14th annual DUMBO Dance Festival, the Steps Performance Lab (2015) and the 2015 American Dance Guild Festival.  In August 2014, Samuel produced and choreographed an evening of his own work entitled "4 Stories." Samuel is thrilled to be dancing with Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, where he has been a company member since 2014.
