The Ailey School

Maria Gerasimou was born in Cyprus. She began her dance training at the School of Dance Frosso Hadjigeorgiou at the age of 3 years old. In 2010 and 2013, Maria was invited by Dancecyprus to be a part of The Junior Company where she worked with many well-known choreographers such us Margarita Makridou , Davide Bombana. Maria also had the privilege to participate in the 2^nd Dancecyprus Gala in December 2010. Ms. Gerasimou participated in the YAGP Finals competition in New York where she received a scholarship at The Ailey School Summer Intensive. Ms .Gerasimou was also awarded a scholarship at Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive. In 2016,  she attended the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Intensive with a full scholarship and performed work of Carmen Rozenstraten. In 2013, she participated at YAGP Semi Finals competition in Brussels,  where she was among the top 12 dancers in the senior category of contemporary dance. She also participated in Pancyprian  Ballet  Competition where she won a first place, and the National Greek Competition where she received a scholarship for the Chateau-roux  Summer Intensive. In 2014,  she attended the National Greek Competition “Terpsichore’s Erga” and awarded with a full scholarship at The Cape Town School in South Africa and at The Ailey School where she started her studies as a scholarship student. Ms.Gerasimou joined Complexions Contemporary Ballet in 2016.
