Kevin Sport

Percussionist

Kevin Sport is a multi-faceted drummer/percussionist. He began playing percussion in the 4th grade and received his Bachelor of Music from James Madison University and pursued a Masters of Music in Percussion Performance at the Meadows School for the Arts in Dallas, TX.

Since relocating to New York in September 2002, Mr. Sport has performed almost every genre of popular music and art music the city’s vibrant music scene including the Knitting Factory, Sin-e, Pianos, and Kush. In addition to The Ailey School, he also works as an accompanist for modern dance classes the JKO School at American Ballet Theater and the Martha Graham School for Contemporary Dance.

In addition to his work in the US, Kevin has performed on the ‘gamelan’ in Bali and the ‘dumbek’ in Turkey, Morocco, and Egypt. Since he began taking drum lessons from master drummer Raquy Danziger in Brooklyn and Bunyamin Olguncan in Istanbul Turkey, the dumbek has become a center piece of his work. Mr. Sport performed at Ewart Concert Hall in Cairo, Egypt with Mr. Danziger and Mr. Olguncan in March 2010.
