Gwen Rakotovao

Gwen Rakotovao Company (Artistic Director)

Gwen Rakotovao is a French born award-winning dancer and choreographer of Malagasy roots. She was awarded the Gold medal at the 2012 Biarritz International Contemporary Dance Competition. She was a finalist at the 6th Korean International Modern Dance Competition and the 12th Seoul International Dance Competition. Gwen is the founder and Artistic Director of the Gwen Rakotovao Company. Her work toured internationally in New York at Dixon Place, John Ryan Theater, Triskellion Arts, Movement Research, the Secret Theater, the Green building. And around the world at the Théâtre Charles Dullin in Grand-Quevilly, The Riley Theatre in Leeds, National Conservatory of Oujda, Alliance française in Bangkok, I’Institut Français in Agadir, Sala Galileo in Madrid, Afrik Urbanarts in Abidjan, International Chopin festival Urodzinowe in Warsaw to name a few. Gwen Rakotovao is also the founder of the dance program Masimihanta, an outreach dance program, sponsored by Eau Vive and in collaboration with the Ketsa Center. The dance program aims to help them build self-confidence and to raise awareness about environmental issues
