Abigail Tan-Gamino was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She began her professional career at age 14 with Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT). During her twelve seasons with PBT, she danced numerous principal roles such as: “Kitri” in Don Quixote; “Odette/Odile” in Swan Lake; “Cinderella” in Cinderella; “Giselle” in Giselle; “Esmeralda” in Hunchback of Notre Dame; “Cio Cio San” in Madame Butterfly; “Nikiya” in La Bayadère; “Sugar Plum fairy” in Nutcracker; Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Who Cares?; “Lead Ballerina” in Paquita; and, “Russian Girl” in Serenade and Concerto Barocco. In 2009, she danced with American Repertory Ballet (ARB) in New Jersey under the direction of Graham Lustig. After one season with ARB, she danced with Atlanta Ballet, where she performed works by Twyla Tharp, John McFall, Val Caniparoli, Helen Pickett, Gina Patterson, Amy Seiwart, Juel Lane, Jorden Morris, Christopher Wheeldon's Rush, Ohad Naharin, Stephen Mills and Alexei Ratmansky. She graduated with a BA in Communication Arts from Angelicum College. She is retired from dancing professionally and is currently a senior faculty member in the Pre Professional Division of the Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education.
