Certificate Program
The Certificate Program is a three-year program for advanced-beginner to intermediate level students, ages 17-23, who have completed their secondary school requirements. This program takes a conservatory approach to dance training, combining technique, dance academics, creative studies, and repertory and performance.
Curriculum
The core curriculum consists of daily classes in ballet and Horton and/or Graham-based modern 5-6 times per week. Supplemental classes include jazz, tap, Dunham, West African, barre à terre, yoga, Gyrokinesis®, and body conditioning. Improvisation, dance composition, dance history, music, and theater arts are also required.
Third-year Certificate students participate in a Repertory and Performance workshop, which provides valuable performing experience throughout the New York tri-state area. The Certificate Program culminates in a performance produced entirely by the graduating class.
Enrollment
Enrollment in the Certificate Program is full-time and begins in the fall semester only. Students attend 15 to 18 classes weekly each semester. Admission is by audition only. A student's continued enrollment in the Professional Division is contingent upon their meeting Certificate Program requirements.
