First Steps and Bounding Boys (ages 3-6)

No auditions are required for these introductory courses. Classes are held on Saturdays or Sundays from September – May.
2012 Class Schedule

Very limited space is available. Please email juniordivision@alvinailey.org to find out availability or to be placed on a waiting list. Please include the following: your name, child’s name & date of birth, best contact phone number and class time preference. Please note the waiting list will be valid through November 2012 only.
 

Pre-Professional Program (ages 7-17)

All new students are required to audition for acceptance in the Pre-Professional Program. Auditions are held annually in August at The Ailey School. To be placed on our mailing list to receive updated information about auditions and registering, please email juniordivision@alvinailey.org and include your full name, home mailing address and date of birth of the student. Information will be sent out to those on the mailing list in the summer.

Pre-Professional Scholarship Program (ages 15-17)

Acceptance to the Scholarship Program is by audition only, held every semester at The Ailey School. 

Students must re-audition annually in order to maintain their Scholarship.  Auditionees should be prepared to take ballet and modern classes.  Please view the School dress code for appropriate audition attire.  Scholarship support may be extended for as long as five years for those who enroll while still in high school.
 

Summer Intensive Program (ages 11-15)

Dancers may audition for acceptance through a live audition or by application. 

Live Audition

1.  Check the Audition Schedule to find the audition location closest to you. 
2.  Register online for your audition and pre-pay $20 audition fee.  Print and bring receipt to audition.  
3.  Print and complete a Pre-Professional Application Form to bring with you.

Online registration is highly encouraged, but onsite registration will also be available.

Audition Dates

Students unable to travel to an audition may apply to the Summer Intensive Program by submitting:

1. A completed Pre-Professional Application Form
2. A 10-15 minute DVD, showcasing ballet ability:  barre, center work, and a brief combination traveling across the floor
3. Two dance photographs:  Tendu à la Seconde and First Arabesque
4. Two letters of recommendation, preferably from a ballet and a modern/jazz instructor
5. Register online and pay the $20 audition fee. Print and bring receipt to the audition.
