Junior Division
The Ailey School's Junior Division offers a diverse range of dance training classes and performance opportunities for students ages 3-17, from beginner to pre-professional.
Classes
- First Steps: ages 3-6
- Bounding Boys: ages 4-6
- Ailey Athletic Boys Dance: ages 7-10
- Pre-Professional Program: ages 7-17
- Summer Intensive Program: ages 12-15
- Pre-Professional Fellowship Program: ages 15-17
Performance Opportunities
Students of all ages and levels are provided exciting and enriching performance experiences as a part of the Junior Division programs.
Students of the First Steps and Bounding Boys programs highlight their accomplishments in their special presentation at The Ailey Citigroup Theater. The performance also demonstrates the levels of progression within the programs.
The Pre-Professional programs culminate in the annual Junior Division Spring Concert, which includes students in Levels 1-7. Each class showcases at least two of the techniques they have studied during the year. Select Junior Division students are also provided the opportunity to perform with students in The Ailey School's Professional Division each semester, as well as at our Spring Concerts with members of Ailey II and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
